INDIAN CREEK PRESBYTERIAN CEMETERY

With updates by Mark added 8 December 2007

In N.W. corner of N.E. 1/4 of S.W. 1/4 of Sec. 9 T.28 N., R.I.E., 2nd IN P.M. which location is in the N.W. portion of HARRISON TOWNSHIP in  Northwestern Cass County in North-Central INDIANA.

Despite it’s name, this cemetery is not located on Indian Creek, [a sizeable eastern tributary of the Tippecanoe River] but lies about 1 mile South of it. Two small southern tributaries of Indian Creek do  flow Northward within 1/4 mile east & west of this cemetery.

Caution should be used to Not confuse this cemetery with the Indian Creek Christian Cemetery which is located about 1 mile S.W. of this cemetery in the same township.

The field notes on this cemetery were not checked due to the declaration of war between the German, Italian & Japanese Empires in Dec. 1941 making the checking of this remote cemetery impractical at the present time.

The original log church was built in or about 1838 was later replaced with a framed structure was active until it closed for church-services about the end of the Civil War. About a century ago the church was torn down (perhaps to allow for a large cemetery.

Two Presbyterian Churches currently exist within a few miles S.E. of the cemetery in the towns of   Lucerne and Concord which both lie in Harrison township.
