At the time of my first visit, it was located near Walton IOOF Cemetery on the farm of Alvin and Ethel Minnick in a clump of trees in the middle of a bean field. Twenty years later I couldn't find it. I'm sure I had the right farm so I think it may be gone. According to Powell's History of Cass Co., Justice Minnick was buried there along with his niece, Martha Stemler. We found two stones there. One was George, son of J. and E. Minnick died Feb 15, 1847 aged 6 months. The other was Justice Minnick, died Sept 21, 1847 aged 41 yrs 6 months. We did not find Martha Stemler's marker. I have never been able to find any other trace of her existence.
An interesting note in Powell's - "At that time (meaning when the first burial was made on Minnick's farm) there were but two houses between Walton and Logansport and the road wound around through the forest trees."
The L'Anguille Valley Memorial Association gives these burials.
