Kokomo

The seat of justice of Howard County is situated near the center of the county, and a short distance from the crossing of the Cincinnati, Logansport and Chicago railroad with the Peru and Indianapolis Railroad -- the latter running north and south through the center of the county. Kokomo is situated in a fine, rich section. It contains two churches, two newspapers, stores, manufactories, &c. Population, 550.

Greentown

A post village of Liberty Township, Howard county, situated on the Kokomo and Jonesboro State road, 10 miles east of Kokomo and 60 miles from Indianapolis. It contains one hotel, two general stores, one blacksmith, two boot and shoe makers, three carpenters, one cabinet maker, two carriage and wagon makers, one harness maker, four resident farmers, one notary public, three physicians, two water saw mills, one jeweler, one cooper, one harp manufacturer, one church and one school with about fifty pupils. Population 200.
