Welcome to Howard County Resources, Addresses and Lookups
The County Clerk holds the marriage, divorce, probate and civil court records including wills. The County Recorder holds the land records, and the County Health Department has birth, death and burial records.
Marriages in Howard County were recorded starting in 1844, while births and deaths were not officially recorded until 1882. Even then, there are many pre-1900 and turn-of the century births and deaths that were not recorded. If the Birth or Death occurred between 1875 and 1920, the record may be recorded in the Master Index Books; the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library Genealogy and Local History Department has these master indexes available on microfilm.
