John Wray Dead, Pneumonia Victim
John Wray, 75-year-old farmer, of the Mexico vicinity, died at 5:45 this
morning at the Cass county hospital in Logansport after a ten-days illness of
pneumonia. He had been in poor health for thirty years.
The body was brought to the Kline funeral home in Denver for burial preparation
and was taken to the family home two miles west of Mexico this evening, where
friends may call. Last rites will be held-Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at
the Mexico Church of the Brethren. Rev. Frank Fisher officiating, assisted by
Rev. Walter Balsbaugh. Interment will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
Mr. Wray was the son of John and Susan (Wimmer) Wray and was born in Franklin
County, Va., in 1864. He came to the Mexico locality from that state 52 years
ago. His widow, Lee Greer Wray survives with the following children: Mrs. Lulu
Rush, and Mrs. Bessie Rush, Logansport, Hugh and Wm. Wray and Mrs. Ohio Peters,
Mexico, and Mrs. Ruth Murphy, Denver. He leaves also one brother, Walter Wray
of Virginia.
He was a member of the Church of the Brethren at Mexico.

Leah Greer, daughter of John Greer and Elizabeth Sink, was born on 24 Jun
1865 in Franklin Co., VA. She
died on 3 Dec 1950 at the age of 85 in Denver, Miami Co., IN. She
was buried on 6 Dec 1950 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Mexico, Miami Co., IN. Prudence

Funeral of Mrs. Wray Yesterday at Mexico
Funeral services were held at the Mexico Church of the Brethren yesterday
afternoon for Mrs. Prudence Leah Wray 85, who died at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Earl Murphy, Sunday evening at 6:10 o’clock.
The body was taken from the McCain funeral home to the Murphy residence Tuesday
afternoon and was taken to the church at noon yesterday to lie in state until
time for the last rites a [sic.] one o’clock. Rev. Harley Fisher officiated in
the funeral service. Interment was made in Greenlawn cemetery.
Mrs. Wray had lived in the Mexico vicinity for the past 61 years, coming here
from Virginia. She was born in Franklin county, Virginia, June 24, 1865, the
daughter of John and Elizabeth (Sink) Greer. She was married in Franklin
county, Va. Sept 7, 1884 to John William Wray, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, William Wray and Hugh Wray, both of Route 3, Peru; four
daughters, Mrs. Lulu Mae Rush and Mrs. Bess Vernice Rush, both of Route 3,
Logansport, Mrs. Mary Olive Peters, Mexico; and Mrs. Murphy, Denver; 13
grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. One brother Tom Greer, Mexico, also
