2 + miles N.N.W of Twelve Mile, Indiana & west of the Chesapeake & Ohio railway track. Is near the South edge of the N.W. 1/4 Sec. 7, T.28 N., R.3 E., 2nd Ind. P.M. & is in the N.W. portion of ADAMS Twp., N.E. CASS County , INDIANA .  Cemetery is less than 1 &1/2 miles south of the FULTON County line.

Comment: An Aerial photograph of this region indicates that this township is not a full mile from east-west but it is difficult to understand how this could have happened when it was government surveyors who originally surveyed this region. Perhaps we should call it Fractional N.W. 1/4 of Fractional Section 7.

Surrounded by cultivated fields, this cemetery is unfenced, over-grown with trees and in an extremely bad [abandoned & neglected] condition as of November 1941 when the fieldwork was done for the

This report contains the notes of late Cass Co., Historian, Dr. J.Z. Powell who visited this cemetery between 1907 & 1909.& stated at that time that there were approximately 100 graves in this cemetery and most of them were unmarked. He copied into a notebook, a few of the names & dates. Those are included in this 1941 report as the stones are broken, undecipherable or overlooked [in the weeds] or missing.

 NOTES

Buck, G. Samuel or Ashabel? [J.P.Z.says  Rev. ASHABEL Buck d.1865 age 43]

1941 copyist says G. Samuel Buck. I couldn’t find any G. Samuel Buck but found an Ashel Buck in 1860 Liberty Twp.,  Fulton Co., IN ae. 37 & a farmer.

Lunsford, Frank M.:  fieldworker says death recorded on monument at Mt. Hope Cem.

1909 notes by J.Z.P. [stated Mrs. Nancy Ghapin was w/o A.B. Chapin] & was included in the 1941, transcript as stated by J.Z.P. Transcriber has corrected it to Nancy Chapin w/o Alvin B. Chapin.

1909 Mary Chapin  d/o R.B. Chapin [notes by J.Z.P.stated that Mary Ghapin was the d/o B.B. Ghapin.] No one surnamed Ghapin appears in IN records  & since Chapin is in this cemetery as well as close by Fulton Co., the name on the old weathered stone was probably mis-read & should be Chapin. Also, R.B. not B.B. as no B.B.Chapin appears but R.B. does appear in USC records.

Lydia McHenry [J.Z.Powell says " Lydia {Mrs. H.M. Haney] is wrong. See [1860 USC. Adams Twp., Cass Co., IN for Henry & Lydia McHenry]
