Makers of
Boot Jacks
In
1883, there were 18 men in Logansport who could make footwear of excellent
quality and appearance; some of these had employees; that is, they ran more
than a one man shop. In the downtown
section, there were Charles Horning, John Winsch, Elias Winter, Henry Wren,
John Gotseling and William Engelbrecht, to mention only a few. Each of these had a stock of various size,
over which he shaped the shoes ordered by his customer.
