Amboy Friends Cemetery

S.R. 19 at North End of Amboy West Side

Amboy, IN

Jackson Twp. Twp., Miami County Co., IN

Amboy Friends Meeting began as a Monthly Meeting in Indiana Yearly Meeting on Dec. 1, 1853. The log-hewed church was erected in 1850 on the cemetery site. The first Friends worship service in Miami County was held in 1844 by Eli Overman and twin brothers, Wm. and Noah Thomas. They held mid-week meeting on a log in the forest while building a home for Noah. School was also taught in the building from 1850 to 1872. The next church was built across the road (now IN 19).

There are approximately 100 unreadable gravestones in this old cemetery.  This database is based on a reading and research by John Lamb in Spring 2001.   Additions have been made using photographs by John Peck and Ed and Debby Beheler and with obituary information.  Many thanks to all who made this database possible.
